Los Angeles Group Dog Obedience Training Classes

los angeles obedience training class

Group dog obedience and manners classes are an affordable way to train your dog. Your dog learns to listen to you in a new environment around other dogs. We teach basic obedience -- the things you want your dog to do (sit, come, etc.) -- and manners -- the things you don't want your dog to do (jump on people, bolt out the door, etc.)

Current fees for dog obedience/manners classes are reasonably priced at $169 in West Los Angeles. These classes fill up fast, so please call 1-877-7-DOGGIE now so you can reserve a spot in the class.

We have a large training area for the classes, and there is ample free parking.

The West Los Angeles Dog Obedience/Manners Training Classes are currently held on Saturday or Sunday at 10:30a.m. (and we add additional classes as needed) at Westwood Park behind the Federal Building, which is located one block east of the Wilshire Boulevard exit from the 405. They are for dogs 4 months and older, but your puppy can take the classes, too. (We do offer Puppy Training Classes which are specifically geared to puppies from 10 weeks to 16 weeks that deal with "puppy issues" such as housetraining, chewing and biting, socialization and handling, and confidence and relationship building.)

Here's the particulars about the Doggie Manners Obedience/Manners Dog Training classes.

  • Classes meet once a week for one hour for five weeks.
  • You work with your dog in a distracting but controlled environment.
  • There are two series of classes: Saturday and Sunday at 10:30 a.m., and we add additional classes as needed. If you have to miss a week, you can easily go to a make-up class.
  • There is a new class starting generally every two to three weeks.
  • Classes are small (limited to ten dog/handler teams) -- so please book your space early!
  • You receive detailed oral instructions and written handouts.

These dogs are learning to ignore each other on walks -- yes, it IS possible!

The emphasis is on manners and basic dog obedience with solutions to some common behavior problems. These are the exercises we work on in class.

    • Come
    • Down and Down-stay
    • Drop it (Releasing something from your dog's mouth)
    • Finished (ending a behavior)
    • Go to your place
    • Jumping on people and furniture
    • Leave it
    • Sit and Sit-stay
    • Taking treats gently
    • Waiting at car and front doors, curbs, and gates
    • Walking beside you on leash (Heeling)
    • Watch me (Getting your dog's attention)
    • And other exercises as time permits (such as ignoring other dogs, cars, and people when your dog is walking on leash)

We help you to bring about positive changes in your dog's behavior.
