How to Potty Train a Puppy or Dog
When you get your puppy or dog, the first thing on your mind is -- "How do I potty train this dog or puppy? I've done everything, and he's still peeing and pooping everywhere!"
Puppy or dog potty training is also called housebreaking or house training, but the concept is the same -- how to train your dog or puppy to pee and poop in one place rather than all over your house and yard.
Everyone is very price conscious these days, and I want to be able to help you with affordable training rates, so they are listed below. These are general rates because there may be behavior issues that impact potty training your puppy or dog, so the fees could be slightly higher than what is listed, but I try to stick to these rates as much as possible.
Please read my article on Training my New Puppy for some basic tips.
Then call me at 1-877-7-DOGGIE so we can make an appointment.
How does this work?
There are several options, all of which are explained in more detail below.
- Private lesson at your home
- Combination of one private session and either 4 or 5 group classes
- Telephone consultation
What is included in the session?
Before we meet, I send you either one or two questionnaires which you complete. These questionnaires are important for two reasons
- They save you money because they answer questions that I would need to ask during the session.
- They give me a foundation to ask you follow-up questions.
We meet either by telephone or in person.
Together we formulate the potty training program personalized to you and your puppy or dog.
You receive a handout so you can refer to it if you need to review.
You receive 2 months email or telephone consultation.
Why are the rates different for housetraining or potty training puppies and dogs ?
Because when we are working with a puppy, we're basically working on a clean slate. When working with a dog, your dog has had a lot more experience being *not* housebroken, and we have to investigate the real underlying cause.
For a human equivalent example, let's say you call your doctor on the phone, tell him you have a stomachache, and ask his advice on how to get rid of it. Well, there could be a lot of reasons ranging from the food that you ate to an underlying systemic problem or disease. So your doctor asks you a lot of questions because otherwise, he can suggest that you do one thing and it may not work because he doesn't know the underlying reason.
That's the reason the rates are different -- I want to give you the best advice I can so you'll be happy with my services, and there's a lot more "stuff" that we have to go over because we need to ask questions to find out the real reason that your dog is not housetrained or potty trained.
What are your rates?
