Why Caryl's Books Are Relevant

​

Even though she has been a dog trainer for over 20 years, I still do research

• When she has a particularly difficult case

• When she wants to learn about new methods

• Or find an issue that she hasn't dealt with previously or piques her interest

 

Unfortunately, many times information on the Internet or in books is

​

• Conflicting (“You must do A, B, and C.”  “No, you absolutely cannot do A, B, and C.”)

• Outdated (Many sources recommended waiting until your puppy is 4 months old for socialization – and that’s past the socialization window for puppies.)

• Or simply bad (There was some ghastly information about teacup puppies – “You’re going to have a difficult time finding an electric collar small enough for a teacup”!)

• Too little to be of any help, in many cases just a single sentence about the issue I was researching.  (I need more than a sentence when helping my clients!)

 

So I decided that I would compile all the information, weed out the bad stuff, plus add the techniques I have developed into a single source with a bit of humor added in.

Short Bio

Caryl Wolff is a dog trainer and behavior consultant certified by five dog trainer organizations and is a 2015 Gold Global eBook Award winner.  She provides training and behavior consulting services to clients in the Los Angeles area and by telephone across the US.

Medium Bio

Caryl Wolff has been in Los Angeles for a long, long time – and remembers when the smog was so thick that you couldn’t see across the street.  Her first career was as a court reporter, but her first job as a dog trainer was training one of her dogs for the Los Angeles Opera with Placido Domingo.  She got tired of not being able to walk and talk (which was difficult as a court reporter) and decided to become a dog trainer since everyone was asking her advice on how to train their dogs – she was fortunate to start at the top!

​

She was the first dog trainer/behavior consultant in the US (and possibly the world, but who knows?) concurrently certified by five dog trainer organizations:

• International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants

• Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers

• National Association of Dog Obedience Instructors

• Association of Animal Behavior Professionals

• American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen Evaluator

 

She has written for many publications and Internet sites and is a past member of:

• Publishers Association of Los Angeles

• Independent Book Publishers Association

• Independent Writers of Southern California

 

Her writing career was born when she began writing articles for her website www.DoggieManners.com.  She has written several books on dog and puppy training including the first book about Puppy Socialization written by a certified dog consultant.  Her Puppy Potty Training book won the 2015 Gold Global eBook Award.  She has a wicked sense of humor and lives in Los Angeles with two dogs and a 44-year-old macaw, which she humorously refers to as her longest relationship.
