SLEEPING & CONFINEMENT 

 

Crate -- You have two options – to get a crate that fits your dog now or one that will fit him when he is an adult.  Regarding the size, as an adult, he should be able to stretch out and stand up easily.  You can do an Internet search for the size of your adult dog to find out approximately how big he is going to get and buy a crate accordingly.  Remember that the height at the withers is the height along his spine and does not include his head, so you need to add inches for his head. Wire crates are good for dogs with long hair.

  Teeth brushing is an important part of hygiene, especially for small dogs or dogs with long hair around the muzzle.  Teaching him to have his teeth brushed as a puppy will help a lot with handling him as an adult dog.
